Princeton- Leo S. Hurme, 87 of Princeton died Saturday, March 4, 2017 in the Keystone Center, Leominster after an illness. Leo was born August 28, 1929 in Gardner son of Irma Leonard Hurme and was a lifelong resident of Princeton. He was a graduate of Princeton High School and was active with the Leominster Civil Defense. He retired from the Meadowood County area Fire Department of Fitzwilliam N.H. in 2009 as a lieutenant, were he had worked for 20 years. Prior to this he had been the Fire Chief in Princeton for 18 years. He was an E.M.T. for over 30 years and one of the 1st 100 EMT’s in Massachusetts. He was the longest certified EMT in Massachusetts. He was a World War II Army Veteran.
Leo,s wife Dorothy (Cadwell) Hurme died in 1985. He leaves a son Donald Hurme of Ashburnham, three daughters; Deborah Sandstrom of Princeton, Crystal Maguy and her husband Jeff of Winchendon and April Lee and her husband Jason of Fitchburg, grandchildren; Adam, Henry and Leah Maguy, and Sophia Lee, one brother Allen Erickson of Oklahoma and Leo’s companion Linda Harvey of Princeton.
A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday March 12, 2017 from 12 noon until 2pm in the Winchendon American Legion Post, 295 School St Winchendon MA.
