Fitchburg- Richard D. Cox, 75 of Fitchburg died Monday April 25, 2016 in Health Alliance/Leominster Hospital after being stricken ill at home. Richard was born March 8, 1941 in Jersey City New Jersey son of Delmar B. and Evelyn (Moran) Cox. He had been a member of Madonna of the Holy Rosary Church in Fitchburg. He served in the U.S. Army from 1959 through 1962. He had worked at the Sisters of the Presentation Convent in Leominster. Before this he had worked for Borden Chemical Co for 17 years and for Bemis Bag Co in Pepperell for 15 years. He enjoyed gardening, doing crossword puzzles, spending time at the beaches in Maine and spending time with his family including his wife Norma and grandson Connor.

He leaves his wife of 51 years Norma (Sherrin) Cox, one son William and his wife Melissa Cox of Gloucester, one daughter Holly Cox of Fitchburg, one grandson Connor Cox of Fitchburg, two brothers Philip Cox of Grafton and Kenneth Abrams and his wife Jane of Port Charlotte Florida, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends are invited to join the family for a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, May 2, 2016 at 11:00am in St. Joseph Church 49 Woodland St Fitchburg. Burial will be in the Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon MA. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers donations in Richard’s memory may be made to the Sisters of the Presentation, 99 Church St. Leominster MA 01453. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Aubuchon-Moorcroft Funeral Home Fitchburg
