Gerard M. Aubuchon
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather
Gerard M. Aubuchon, passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2015, at his home in Fitchburg, surrounded by his loving family. He was 92 years old.
He was born Gerard Michael Aubuchon on May 20, 1922, in Fitchburg to John B. and Parmelia (Larriviere) Aubuchon. After graduating from Assumption Preparatory School in Worcester, he began his life’s passion, proudly working for his family business, Aubuchon Hardware, in 1939. He managed the Plumbing Shop, then Central Hardware, in Fitchburg, until eventually these were combined to become the Aubuchon Hardware on North Main Street, in Leominster, the largest sales volume store in the Company at the time. He had superior knowledge in plumbing and heating. Many of his ideas have been implemented throughout the entire chain of stores. He retired in 1984, after 45 years with the Company.
He was an avid Ham Radio Operator, many times “patching in” men and women of the military with their families back in the United States, their only means to verbally communicate in those days. He also loved to jog.
He is survived by Dolores (LaFleur), his wife of 67 years; two sons, Michael and his wife, Gloria, of Gardner, Daniel and his wife, Susan, of Westminster; and a daughter, Paula Pelletier and her husband, Louis of Westminster; his grandchildren, whom he spent so much time with, were Matthew of Gardner, Scott, and Allison of Westminster, Jeffrey of Groton, Jason of Leominster, Steven of Boston, and Nicholas Pelletier of Westminster; six great-children; a sister, Jacqueline, of Victoria, British Columbia; and a brother, Louis of Clifton Park, NY; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by brothers, Paul and Andre of Fitchburg, Roger of Seattle, WA, and his sister, Lucille Beaudet of Woonsocket, RI.
Gerry’s family is so thankful to the “French Connection”, who lovingly cared for him and his wife for the last five years, Dr. Knutson and Mary his Nurse, and also Health Alliance Home, Health and Hospice of Leominster.
