Lunenburg- Eleanor I. (Enholm) Cushing, 84 of Lunenburg passed away August 11, 2017.
Eleanor was born in Fitchburg on October 22, 1932, a daughter of the late Waino and Elsa (Oksanen) Enholm. She graduated from Fitchburg High School, Class of 1950. She retired from the Federal Government in 1993 after 17 years. She previously worked for 5 years at Crocker Burbank Paper Co. and 1 year at Barkley and Dexter Labs.
She had many happy retirement years spent with her husband Richard, traveling in their 5th Wheel to Myrtle Beach and Florida in the winter. They were married for 54 years. She leaves her children, Julie Wentworth and her husband Gary of Lunenburg, Carolyn Cushing of Broadway N.C., Richard Cushing Jr. of Lunenburg, her caregiver, who lived with her, Patricia Maholtz and husband Paul of Mooresville N.C., seven grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Eleanor was predeceased by her husband Richard in 2008 and her brother Allan Enholm in 1980.
She was a 50 year member of Ladies of Kaleva, a former member of Flapenaufin Ski Club, Mt. Watatic Ski Club and Maplewood Golf course. She enjoyed golfing, skiing, crossword puzzles, bingo and going to Las Vegas.
A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, August 21, 2017 from 4 to 6pm at Kaleva Lodge, 32 Perry Road, Lancaster MA. Private burial will be in North Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Eleanor’s memory may be made to the Ladies of Kleva, 32 Perry Road Lancaster MA 01523.
