Dominic Chillemi

FITCHBURG, MA -- Dominic "Dick" Chillemi, 88, of Fitchburg, MA, passed away on May 16, 2011, at Legends Care Facility.

He leaves one son, Michael D. Chillemi of Fitchburg; two daughters, Roseann Chillemi Vincent of Acworth, GA, and Margaret Chillemi Hilliard of Greenfield, MA. He leaves his two sisters, Rose St. Pierre of Fitchburg, and Frances Franklin of Melbourne, FL; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was born in Fitchburg, August 31, 1922, son of Franceso Chillemi, and Rosa Bonomo Chillemi where they lived all of their lives.

He precedes his father and mother, Francesco and Lorenza Chillemi, two brothers, Salvatore "Sam" Chillemi of Leominster, and Joseph Chillemi, and one sister, Antoinette (Nina) Chillemi Miles of Fitchburg.

Dick was a special Father bringing up three children, starting at ages 6, 4 and 3 for over 20 years after losing his wife. Dick was a wonderful Dad who always had a smile and a great sense of humor. Everyone who met him instantly liked him. He touched many lives during his 88 years of life. You could always see him working in his vegetable garden on Rockland Street as his Father did. He loved bowling and Sports.

Dick was a member of The Madonna of Holy Rosary and St. Joseph's Church in Fitchburg.

He was a Veteran of World War II, US Army, serving in South Pacific for 4 years. He was awarded the Purple Heart, and the Good Conduct Medal.

CHILLEMI -- Funeral will be held Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at 12 Noon at the Pieta at St. Joseph's Cemetery, following a Celebration of Life to be held at St. Joseph's Church hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation .
